Peace Camp ~ Domestic Violence Interactive Skit

This skit is hosted by the Scattergood Friends School as part of their Peace Camp. The interactive skit is adapted and used with permission from Spruce Run domestic violence project in Bangor, Maine. Our yearly donation drive is back! Victim/Survivors are in need a variety of household cleaning products, personal hygiene items, diapers, cold & flu medicines and gift cards! Help your neighbors by stocking the DVIP resource pantry for victim/survivors in your community! Stop by either Hy-Vee in Burlington on October 7th from 11 am to 4 pm to pick up a shopping list, a few items, and drop off all in one afternoon!

In Her Shoes is an interactive simulation that allows all community members to step into what victim/survivors of domestic violence experience every day. Participants will have the opportunity to understand, in a very compressed period of time, the ups and downs a woman may encounter over the course of many years through 17 different stations. This event is open to the public and free, though we do encourage pre-registration as space is limited. 

In Her Shoes is provided with the support of the Johnson County Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the Domestic Violence Intervention Program in celebration of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. For more information about the sponsors please visit dvipiowa.org and jccadv.org
