On August 11th, we joined forces with Houses into Homes for a furniture building event at the HiH warehouse. By the end of the night, a group of 60 (!!!) incredible volunteers built 18 brand-new dressers and 18 brand-new nightstands that will be given to families moving into our new stable housing program in Johnson County: The Row.
When it opens this fall, The Row will be Johnson County’s first transitional housing built specifically to meet the needs of victim-survivors.
This night would not have been possible without our incredible sponsors at Ball, Kirk, & Holm P.C. who generously offered to cover the entire cost of the furniture ($3,600) if we met our goal of 60 volunteer sign-ups. We accepted their challenge because we knew our community would show up, and you sure did!
Thank you to Houses into Homes, our friends at Ball, Kirk, and Holm P.C., and all of the amazing folks who spent an evening building furniture to support survivors in our community. It’s safe to say: we built a whole lot more than furniture.
